• This work elucidates original ways to control light-matter interactions in commodity polymer nanocomposites for next-generation optical and optoelectronic technologies. • This comprehensive study aims to bridge the structure-processing-property connections in multifunctional PVA nanocomposites using CaMnO3 as model filler. • The results offer pathways for rationally designing polymer nanocomposites a la carte by harnessing Optical and optoelectrical phenomena.
