This review aimed to compare the bonding performance of universal adhesives to dentin before and after aging, using a network meta-analysis. A comprehensive literature search was performed in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases. The included studies were restricted to in vitro studies assessing bond strength data for universal adhesives to sound dentin in either self-etch or etch-and-rinse modes, before and after ageing, with at least a control group (Clearfil SE Bond). Data were analyzed using a Bayesian network meta-analysis, and the relative performance of the adhesives was ranked using SUCRA (Surface Under the Cumulative Ranking) scores. Of 3525 identified studies, 43 met the inclusion criteria for quantitative synthesis. Most had low risk of bias (61.3%), with fewer at moderate (34%) or high (4.5%) risk. In self-etch mode, significant differences were determined among the adhesives at both testing times. According to the SUCRA ranking, Prime&Bond Active (before and after ageing) and G-2 Bond Universal (after ageing) had higher bonding potential than Clearfil SE Bond, while G-Premio Bond ranked lowest. In etch-and-rinse mode, there were no significant differences among the adhesives, except for G-Premio Bond. All-Bond Universal (before ageing) and G-2 Bond Universal (after ageing) ranked as having the highest bonding performance, while G-Premio Bond (before ageing) and Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (after ageing) ranked as the worst.
