• Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder related to mitochondrial dysfunction. • Relevance of role of exogenous Mito on damaged neurons and mitochondria remains unclear. • Mito improved cell morphology and viability while enhancing mitochondrial activity in vitro. • Mito significantly improved motor ability and emotional status while reducing neuronal and mitochondrial loss in vivo.
