This study conducted an experimental case study on the performance of water-based thermal energy storage (WTES) and prototype phase change material (PCM)-based thermal energy storage systems (TES) integrated with a photovoltaic thermal (PVT) system under real operating conditions. Long-term experimental measurements were conducted over two months using a building-scale PVT system, where thermal input varied dynamically owing to changes in solar irradiance and system operation.
