• Evaluates long-term durability of continuous LVL–steel hybrid connections under two accelerated ageing regimes. • Modified ASTM D1037 cycling caused progressive moisture build-up (up to ∼68%) and bond delamination. • Adhesive-dominated systems showed severe strength loss (up to 71%) and major stiffness degradation. • Screw-based connections retained load capacity and ductile behaviour after cyclic exposure. • Moisture-induced degradation critically governs composite action in timber–steel hybrid systems.
