• Vapor-liquid phase equilibria of CO2 + heavy-alkanes were completely investigated. • New VTPR equation of state and binary interaction parameter model were proposed. • Predictive framework for thermodynamic properties of binary systems was developed. • Swelling behavior of CO2 + heavy-alkanes was investigated by theoretical models.
