Abstract

Abstract

New lightweight and efficient acoustic materials are needed to solve the problem of reducing noise levels in aircraft cabins. Aerogel can be considered among such promising materials. This paper presents results of determining the acoustic characteristics: real part of the normalized impedance (ReZ), imaginary part of the normalized impedance (ImZ), sound absorption coefficient (SAC), sound transmission loss (STL) of aerogel based on silicon dioxide using impedance tube. The material under study has weak sound-absorbing properties (SAC is less than 0.62). At the same time, this material has good sound insulation properties and can be considered as a promising material for the internal lining of the aircraft fuselage in combination with other sound-absorbing materials.
