• Facile electrodeposition yields high-performance NiO/PPy nanocomposites with a tailored hybrid morphology. • NiO/PPy exhibits a high specific capacitance of 1351.46 F/g, significantly outperforming individual NiO and PPy components. • Optimized NiO/PPy retains 91.52% of its capacitance after extended cycling, demonstrating excellent stability. • The composite delivers high specific power (5.69 kW/kg) and energy density (74.77 Wh/kg), indicating strong energy storage capability. • Symmetric supercapacitor devices based on NiO/PPy show outstanding electrochemical stability and practical applicability.
