• Self-cleaning and filtration of catalytic membranes: Phase-inversion vs. Electrospinning. • Phase-inversion membrane shows smoother surface and enhanced antifouling performance. • Photo-Fenton cleaning enables 86.7% flux recovery with excellent cycling stability. • DFT reveals mechanism of synergistic H2O2 adsorption and ·O2– generation on membrane.
