• Tetracycline degraded by photocatalysis under natural sunlight. • ZnO/TiO2/Fe3O4 with GO heterostructures tested as photocatalysts. • Thin films applied in sunlight for removal of emerging pollutants. • Degradation was driven by electrons and superoxide anion radicals. • Kinetic analysis revealed UV light efficiency in solar spectrum.
