Abstract

Abstract

• We present an experimental investigation into the interaction of two symmetrical fluid-driven cracks using hydrogel as a rock analogue. • Crack interaction transits from repulsion to attraction upon the coalescence of the fluid-infiltrating zones around the advancing tips. • Our results highlight the important role of fluid pressurization and the tight coupling between the fluid phase and the deforming matrix.
