Remote sensing has become indispensable for monitoring climate extremes and their impacts on agriculture. This column examines the role of Earth observation in food security, the challenges of data access, and the opportunities for treating essential datasets as a global public good. Highlighting African initiatives and global partnerships, it reflects on how geoscience and remote sensing can strengthen resilience in line with the principles of the UN Outer Space Treaty.
