• Comprehensive Characterization of Quaternary Clays: Quaternary clay deposits from various Moroccan regions were analyzed for their particle size distribution, Atterberg limits, organic matter, carbonate contents, mineralogical and geochemical compositions, as well as ceramic properties. • Statistical Insights on Pottery Classification: Advanced statistical methods, including Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA), Canonical Discriminant Analysis (CDA), and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), facilitated the classification of clays into three groups, each corresponding to specific pottery applications. • Integration of Traditional and Scientific Knowledge: Empirical groupings by Moroccan artisans were refined and validated through scientific methods, showcasing the synergy between traditional craftsmanship and modern scientific analysis. • Significance for Sustainable Pottery: This study provides valuable guidance for the pottery industry by optimizing the use of local clay resources, enhancing product quality, and promoting sustainability while preserving Morocco’s artisanal knowledge. • Impact on Future Research and Industry: Findings pave the way for further investigations into the relationship between clay composition and ceramic performance, fostering innovation in clay material utilization for specific pottery applications.
