Functional graphene carbon dots in corn stalk pith as an efficient sorbent for preconcentration and trace determination of triazole residues in rice samples

In this study, a simpler synthesis process by using environmentally friendly reagents for obtaining functional graphene carbon dots in corn stalk pith as a green sorbent is presented. The as-prepared sorbent used for microsolid phase extraction and preconcentration of triazole fungicides in rice samples followed by HPLC. Moreover, the characterization of as-prepared sorbent was investigated. Key parameters affecting the processes of adsorption and desorption process were optimized. For the preparation of corn stalk pith, 0.1 g of citric acid, 0.25 g of urea and 0.1 g of graphite powder and heated in the oven for 150 min at 130 degrees C to fully modify. After that, 400 mu L of methanol was used for desorbed the analytes. Under the optimum condition, good analytical figures of merit through wide liner range (0.09-1.0 mu g L- 1) with determination coefficients (R2) higher than 0.98, were achieved with an enrichment factor of up to 12 were obtained. The LODs and LOQs were 0.01-0.03 mu g L- 1 and 0.03-0.09 mu g L- 1, respectively. They have been successfully applied to the analysis of rice samples. The recoveries in a satisfactory range of 59.46-139.20 % were obtained, indicating a low matrix effect and the robustness of the optimized method. This alternative sorbent was shown good selectivity and cost-effective, due to their low cost biosorbents.
