Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• Benefit mechanisms can advance energy project development and support the interests and priorities of host communities. • Most benefit mechanisms from U.S. land-based wind projects are donations and have a value less than $25,000. • Benefit mechanisms are typically announced for the first time during project operations, rather than during the preapproval phase. • Governments are largely bypassed by wind energy benefit mechanisms, but they tend to receive higher-value benefits than nonprofits or schools. • Issues with salience to rural communities, like education, public safety, and community services, are often supported.
