• We establish important results that show monotonicity of the coverings generated by the Mapper algorithm regarding the granular structures given by the granule-based covering-based rough set approximations. • We give an overview of the parameters of Mapper and their influence on the granularity of the resulting coverings. • We showcase our results for the case study of the coverings generated by Mapper using the Vertebral column dataset.
