• LDA-mediated aldol condensation of EA was achieved at r.t. in continuous flow. • High yields of β-hydroxy esters were obtained within 1.5 s for many electrophiles. • Rapid mixing and precise control over residence time were crucial for high yields. • Yields can be improved by flexibly adjusting the electrophile reaction temperature. • Efficient downstream functionalization was achieved on crude β-hydroxy esters.
