• The use of powdered paracetamol as matrix modifier was efficient in overcoming the inconstancy of spectral and matrix effects. • The Raman method was robust against variations in analyte content up to 5% and that of some excipients up to 20%. • The Raman method was green, cost-effective and fast in routine application.
