• Subacute exposure to heatwave (36°C, 3 h/day for 21 days) induces lung injury in juvenile mice. • Heatwave exposure impairs club cell proliferation and differentiation during airway epithelial repair. • The Lkb1-Glut1 axis in club stem cells contributes to heatwave-induced impairment of airway epithelial repair.
