• The effect of using mutable small basins on improving distiller performance was studied. • Simultaneous combination of a wavy, circular honeycomb-shaped absorber and copper shavings-enhanced PCM were studied. • The accumulated yield of the modified conical distiller improved by 28.6-108.3%. • The cost of yield of the modified conical distiller improved by 25.71-45.71%. • The payback time of the modified conical distiller improved by 17.3-47.5%.
