• Heterostructure CdS/rGO/ZIF-8 composites have been synthesized by the in-situ chemical method • In a three-electrode system, the electrode showed the specific capacitance values were found to be 514.64 (KOH) and 1380.55 F g-1 (RAE). • The ASC device exhibits an energy density of 20.402 Wh kg-1 and a power density of 2033.89 W kg-1.It achieves a specific capacitance of 57.38 F g-1 with capacitance retention of 88.72%
