Abstract
En 中文
A high sensitivity reconfigurable temperature sensor is presented. The sensor is a random laser driven by current pulses, injected into a semiconductor optical amplifier connected to a standard single-mode optical fiber. The pulses repetition rate defines the position of the addressed fiber section whereas the pulse duration defines its length. The wavelength selectivity of the backscattered light defines the random lasing wavelength, which acts as a temperature dependent fingerprint for the optical fiber. Temperature shifts of 0.028 °C with 50 cm spatial resolution are demonstrated.
