• A novel segmented block oligomer, TPPV1, was synthesized via Wittig–Horner–Emmons condensation polymerization • The compound shows a high fluorescence quantum yield, signifying strong emissive property apt for optoelectronic applications • open aperture Z-scan studies of TPPV1 with 7 ns, 532 nm laser pulses, demonstrate excellent nonlinear absorption. • The optical limiting threshold value of TPPV1 is found to be 2.8 J/cm², suitable for laser safety devices.
