• Airport-specific waste fractions were assessed by separate H2-production routes. • Aircraft-derived solid waste yielded up to 61 vol% H2 during gasification. • Dark fermentation performed best at F/M 7–8 and initial pH 7.5–8.0. • Food-waste addition increased apparent H2 yield to 5.3 mol/mol glucose eq. • Distinct airport waste fractions required waste-specific conversion strategies.
