• Hysteresis of SWRC and UKC was determined in different soils and managements. • Anisotropy of the hysteresis of SWRC and UKC was determined. • Hysteresis of SWRC was isotropic and influenced by texture and management. • Hysteresis of UKC was influenced by texture, management and sample direction. • Hysteresis of SWRC and UKC should be taken into account in coarser soils.
