• Lc-Nesfatin-1 was characterized from the primitive jawless vertebrate lamprey. • Lc-Nesfatin-1 mature peptide possesses anti-inflammatory activity in vitro. • Lc-Nesfatin-1 reduces the effects of ferroptosis in RAW 264.7 cells.
