Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
Tetrafluoroboric acid diethyl ether complex is a remarkably efficient reagent for the dehydration of cyclic aminols (e.g. 6) to imidazo[1,2-alpha]pyrimidinium BF4- salts. These show unexpectedly enhanced antibacterial activity compared to the corresponding 2-aminoimidazoles against MRSA USA 300 LAC. Imidazo[1,2-alpha]pyrimidinium salts were found to undergo clean reduction using H-2 in the presence of 10% Pd/C to their tetrahydro counterparts, which also exhibit high bioactivity.
