• A novel HIM scheme for FDA-MIMO DFRC fully exploits modulation without extra resources. • Based on HIM, waveform optimization minimizing ISL improves beampattern performance. • The proposed PAGO and AOSCA efficiently solve subproblems and ensure optimal solutions.
