• Amorphous 0D NixB uniformly anchored on 2D Nb2CTx to form a robust composite. • Hybrid architecture boosts electron transport and accelerates ion diffusion. • NixB/Nb2CTx − 50 electrode delivers 606.7 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 with acceptable-rate ability. • Asymmetric NixB/Nb2CTx-50//rGO device achieves 46.7 Wh kg−1 at 825 W kg−1. • Study advances boundary design of metal-boride/MXene energy materials.
