● Filiform corrosion behavior of aged Mg-9Al-0.2Y alloy was investigated by in-situ digital microscope observation. ● Due to the stronger micro-galvanic effect, filiform corrosion preferentially propagates along the lamellar DPs regions. ● The dense CPs regions exhibit a barrier effect against corrosion propagation. ● Grain boundaries act as preferential propagation channels for corrosion.
