Abstract

• Foam concrete with self-constructed superhydrophobicity was developed by a one-step method • PMS hydrolyzed under CO2 and bonded with C-S-H contributed to the superhydrophobicity • PMS/C-S-H hydrophobic gels enhanced the robustness of superhydrophobicity • The surface possessed excellent chemical durability and carbonation resistance
