• The study evaluated a wearable fabric CNT-based sensor using both in vitro and human irritation testing trials. • Cell viability testing (MTT assay) showed no significant toxicity compared to control (p > 0.05). • A dynamic modified leaching test confirmed a very low release of MWCNTs (0.0867 μg/mL) from the sensor matrix. • Human patch testing at rest and during exercise showed no or minimal skin irritation (p > 0.05).
