• Five variables exhibit varying degrees of influence on different performance characteristics. • Five variables further affect the fiber dispersion by affecting the viscosity of the mortar matrix slurry. • When the plastic viscosity is between 2.5 Pa s to 3.5 Pa s, the fiber can achieve the best dispersion effect. • With the increase of fiber dispersion coefficient, the porosity decreases and mechanical strength increases. • Adjusting the slurry viscosity with thickener can improve fiber dispersion.
