• Novel approach to reduce carbon emissions in shiel tunnel segment construction. • Effect mechanism of SAP on the sulphate resistance of AAS-ULCC was analysed by MIP. • SAP-modified AAS-ULCC's mechanics and shrinkage were studied for 180 days.
