• SIRT2 has significantly interactions with NEU1 and SIRT2 deacetylates NEU1 at lysine 395 (K395). • The increase in the acetylation level of NEU1 reduces its sialidase activity and enhances CD44 sialylation. • The protective effect of NEU1 acetylation is via the CD44/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. • Nano-AGK2 exhibits superior anti-renal injury effect compared to AGK2.
