• Advance Care Planning (ACP) is underutilised in emergency departments despite its importance for older adults nearing the end of life. • Nurses play a pivotal role in initiating ACP and DNACPR conversations through empathetic, patient-centred communication. • Reflective, case-based learning bridges theory and practice, supporting confidence and ethical competence in ACP. • Integrating ACP education into nursing curricula can enhance the quality of care and reduce decisional conflict. • The Emergency Department provides a critical setting for timely, values-based discussions about future care.
