• Paraconic acids reduce ROS release and increases NQO1 and SOD-2 expression in LPS-IFN-γ treated IEC-6. • Paraconic acids increase wound healing and E-cadherin expression in LPS-IFN-γ treated IEC-6. • Paraconic acids remain stable during in vitro gastrointestinal digestion, including the colon phase.
