Abstract

• Mean daily EF was 0.23 and 0.14 for P. australis and S. salsa sites, respectively. • Influences of environmental variables varied with growing stages and water regimes. • EF controls varied with sites, mainly attributed to different plant rooting depth. • EF decreased with groundwater table depth below thresholds under drought. • Vegetation and water regimes interactions strongly affected EF in coastal wetlands.
