Intercalant-free, restacking-suppressed single-layer Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene scaffolds for durable electrochemical energy storage

Abstract

• Single-layer Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene synthesized via prolonged, intercalant-free sonication. • Freeze-drying suppressed restacking and preserved open nanosheet architectures. • SL-MXene exhibits a 4.5-fold higher surface area (128 m2 g⁻1) than ML-MXene. • Enhanced capacitance (329 F g⁻¹) and rate capability (79.1% at 20 A g⁻¹) achieved. • Ultra-stable performance with 99.1% capacitance retention over 20,000 cycles.
