Abstract

Abstract

Current research on electromagnetic absorbing materials emphasizes multifunctional integration, particularly the coupling of anticorrosion and electromagnetic absorption capabilities for practical applications. However, achieving efficient electromagnetic absorption often requires abundant defects and polarization centers, which may compromise anticorrosion performance under harsh conditions. By leveraging the intrinsic porous and lamellar anticorrosion structure of green biomass diatomite, polyaniline can serve as a surface dielectric phase to form an interfacially engineered polyaniline@diatomite (PANi@De) hybrid, enabling a synergistic combination of electromagnetic absorption and corrosion protection. It is found out that the introduction of diatomite effectively inhibits the polyaniline agglomeration and optimizes the electromagnetic impedance matching. The optimal RL reaches −53.46 dB, and the effective bandwidth can reach 5.08 GHz at a thickness of 2.1 mm with a maximum RCS attenuation value at 0° of 25.85 dB·m². Furthermore, across the thickness range of 1.5–5 mm, an ultra-broadband coverage of 3.9–18 GHz can be realized. On the other hands, the anticorrosion efficiency realizes an improvement to 99.93 %. The synergistic bifunctional electromagnetic absorption and corrosion protection is primarily attributed to the porous lamellar skeleton and the heterogeneous interfaces. This study offers a novel perspective for the design of multifunctional electromagnetic absorbing materials.
