This paper presents the earliest investigation on the deployment of interference reduction (IR) reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) for indoor ultra-dense networks (UDN) suffering from strong interference. Firstly, we derive and validate the analytical coverage probability of user equipment (UE) with a given location in the IR-RIS assisted indoor UDN, where the location of interfering base station follows the binomial point process (BPP). Secondly, we derive the spectral efficiency (SE) of this indoor UDN and numerically analyze the effect of IR-RIS position on it to obtain the optimal IR-RIS position. Finally, we compare the indoor UDN SE obtained with IR-RIS and signal-enhancing RIS. The results show that IR-RIS outperforms signal-enhancing RIS in terms of SE enhancement under strong reflective-path interference scenarios, which highlights its superiority in interference management and potential for deployments in next-generation UDNs.
