• Load-dependent tribocorrosion behavior of 2507 SDSS is revealed under seawater conditions. • Wear-corrosion interaction exhibits a non-linear dependence on load due to competing mechanical and electrochemical effects. • Subsurface deformation and strain hardening play a key role in governing tribocorrosion response.
