• Novel cascaded synergetic tubular cyclonic separator (CSTCS) for wide gas volume fraction (GVF) range. • CSTCS achieves liquid-phase and gas-phase separation efficiency exceeding 99% and 92%, respectively, at inlet GVF 10%–60%. • CFD and experimental results validate internal flow patterns and separation performance. • Stable operation under varying inlet conditions with manageable pressure drop increase. • Provides insights for compact tubular separator design in oil and gas applications.
