• Fe, Ni co-substituted Na4VMn(PO4)3 (FMNV) has been synthesized successfully. • Joint substitution ruggedizes the lattice structure by shortening bond length. • In-situ X-ray diffraction verifies minor volumetric change (∼4.91 %). • FMVN maintains a stable cycling performance over 2000 cycles at 10C. • FMVN||HC full battery delivers 309.4 Wh kg−1 after 100 cycles at 2C.
