Sensitivity and control of nonspecific absorption on the surface of biocompatible oxide are critical to improve the performance of electronic biosensors. Because target biomolecules are in the size range of nanometers, the channel through which the electric current to be sensed flows is nanometers in thickness. This is realistic in today’s silicon technology. It is, furthermore, important to carefully investigate what can reduce dipole interaction to cause physisorption of nonspecific molecules thereon. In this work, we used the density functional theory method to perform simulation of the dipole moment of Ta2O5 covering the nanosheet channel, which can be a biocompatible oxide for sensing immunoglobulin. It was then found that the dipole moment is critically dependent on a change in the lattice constant. This means that we can reduce nonspecific absorptions by tuning a lattice structure.
