• Dimensional accuracy in LSEAM improves significantly with optimized layer times for vertical and overhang geometries. • Mean absolute deviations of 0.5–1.5 mm achieved in vertical build regions. • Overhang geometries show 2–3 × higher deviations than vertical zones. • Real-time pyrometry quantifies substrate temperature-accuracy relationships. • Layer times above 25 s minimize surface defects and high-frequency deviations.
