Abstract
En 中文
• Crop improvement has increased light interception by 11% and radiation-use efficiency by 19% in maize. • Breeding has primarily influenced radiation-use efficiency, whereas plant density has primarily influenced light interception. • Radiation-use efficiency explained 50% and light interception 30% of the yield increase from 1983 to 2017. • Unmanned aerial vehicle-based imagery provides an efficient way to estimate light interception in breeding trials. .
