The pervasive integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, particularly those leveraging Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, is fundamentally transforming diverse sectors, notably supply chain management. While RFID enables granular, real-time asset visibility, inherent bandwidth constraints present a salient challenge to large-scale deployments. Kumar et al. previously proposed an ultralightweight RFID protocol tailored for blockchain-integrated supply chains; however, their methodology was subsequently shown to exhibit specific security vulnerabilities. This research introduces a modified RFID protocol designed to mitigate these identified weaknesses through the incorporation of a cryptographic hash function and efficient bit-wise operations. Formal security verification, conducted using the Scyther and AVISPA model checkers, rigorously validates the enhanced security properties of our proposed protocol. Moreover, comparative performance analysis demonstrates that our solution achieves superior performance metrics in terms of communication overhead and overall security resilience when contrasted with existing state-of-the-art protocols, thereby facilitating secure and efficient logistics within blockchain-based supply chain ecosystems.
