This paper proposes a new consensus based load frequency controller (LFC) using distributed multi-battery energy storage system (MBESS). The proposed control strategy effectively utilizes the ability of the battery storage devices to provide/absorb active power during the period of power deficit/excess. The controller uses the consensus based approach for distributed frequency control. The consensus is achieved in finite time where each of the node shares its local information such as the battery energy and battery power with its neighbours. The conventional PI controller uses as the main controller for the LFC with the combination of state feed back loop within the multi-agent control framework. A number of numerical examples are taken into account during simulations to show the usefulness of the suggested controller. The results indicates better performances of the proposed system over conventional LFC.
