Marine oil pollution requires sustainable materials with high separation efficiency and environmental compatibility. However, the heterogeneity of industrial lignin remains a major barrier to the preparation of uniform lignin particles and their application in superhydrophobic systems. In this work, black-liquor-derived lignin was homogenized by a green lactic acid fractionation strategy, affording a lignin fraction (F3) with a low polydispersity index of 1.17. Following silanization and self-assembly, uniform lignin microspheres (LMS3H, 0.82–0.93 μm) were obtained, and their formation mechanism was clarified by molecular dynamics simulations. LMS3H was subsequently anchored onto melamine resin sponge (MRS) to construct a lotus-leaf-inspired superhydrophobic sponges (LMS3H-MRSs). The as-prepared sponges showed a water contact angle of 158°, an oil–water separation efficiency of 98%, and remarkable self-cleaning performance and stability. These findings offer a promising strategy for lignin valorization and the development of sustainable materials for marine oil pollution cleanup.
